Community Projects at Campfire Safaris !

The past month Campfire Safaris have assisted in 3 community projects and until the end of November there are 2 projects in the pipeline. The beginning of October we went to catch Barble at Jejane Private Game Reserve. Due to the winter the Barble were trapped in a mud pool and would have suffocated if we didn't rescue them. IT WAS LOADS OF FUN !! Of course it ended in a mud fight and at the end of the day Glen (the manager) emptied an entire fire carrier of water on us to get us clean. Thank you to Tamara, Susanna and Steven for your help.

Mid October Campfire was asked if our students would volunteer at a wedding in the Kruger National Park. With all expenses paid and three days FREE in the Kruger, they all accepted. It was hard work, but all the students came back with a smile AND THEY GOT PAYED! Thank you Hanna, Adam, Steven and Suzanne to make the couples wedding day, a day they will remember forever.

On the 20th October, Campfire Safaris joined with other projects on the annual 'Do-it-Day' at Daktari. Greater Good is an organisation that has an initiative where non-profit organisations submit projects that can be completed in one day. They then find volunteers and sponsors for the projects. This year Daktari was chosen to build a dormitory for visiting under-privileged school children. Daktari contacted Campfire Safaris and other neighbouring projects for help from our volunteers/students. Our volunteers eagerly started work early that morning by digging, building, laying roof poles and constructing the thatch roof. In short it was a great day, culminating in sundowners on the rock and dinner. Everyone had fun, did a lot of work in the South African heat and make new friends. Thank you, Hanna, Adam, Steven and Steve.

Upcoming projects: Collecting of dung specimen’s for analyses. The dung has to be as fresh as it drops, so we will sneak up on animals and rush to beat the dungbettles to the dung.

Animal capture at a private game reserve, which will include Rhino and Lion.

Campfire Safaris are proud to take part in the upliftment of our local community and assisting in conservation project.
